About Us

The Ticket to Life (TTL) Project is a flagship project currently implemented by the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (APR-WOSM) to integrate street children in society through Scouting.

Aim

This project aims to enable around 5,000 children and young people in Especially Difficult Circumstances (CEDC) from eight developing countries, aged between 6 and 16 years, to meet their needs, develop a plan for their lives and start a meaningful life through Scouting that will prepare them as responsible adults.

TTL also intend to integrate street children and underprivileged children in the society through Scouting. This project aspires to mentor the street and underprivileged children in various aspects such as Education, Discovery of self-worth and esteem, Personal development, Self- exploration and Team spirit.

Objectives

  1. TTL Workshops is a learning opportunity for Scout leaders so they can be agents of change and contribute in improving the situation of children in eight emergent and developing pilot countries, in accordance with the United Nation's Convention of the Rights of the Child.
  2. Organize a Scout Troop where Street Children exists in order for them to have a secure place where they can develop positive relations with adults and peers.
  3. To lessen the number of street children in the eight participating countries for a period of three years, reintegrating the Street Children into their families and community, so that they may become productive and responsible members of their society.

Background

In celebration of the Centenary of Scouting, the Asia-Pacific Region was looking for a flagship project that can be carried out in various countries as a regional project.

The “Ticket to Life” project (TTL) is a Kenya Scout Association (within Africa Scout Region) initiative which began more than ten years ago. It is based on a Peer to Peer method with Scouts who interact with homeless children and to reintegrate them into society.

It does this by welcoming them, if they choose, into Scouting through mentoring, personal development, team spirit, challenge, education, self- exploration and discovery of self-worth and esteem.

The programme began in Nairobi but quickly spread to 20 other cities and towns in Kenya. Subsequently TTL has crossed international boundaries and reached eight other countries in the Asia-Pacific Region, including Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Indonesia and Nepal.

In Indonesia specially Yogyakarta we create Sultan Agung Troops of Ticket to Life Project
